1961 AC Aceca - RSX 5502
This AC Aceca left the factory on 1 December 1961 in Rouge Irise with a Beige interior. The engine number was S235309E. The Mays head numbered 28693 was fed by triple SUs. It had an overdrive fitted. The car used chassis number 815 (stamped on its hinges) which was originally to be built as AC engined Aceca AEX 815 and as is recorded in the AC Aceca Register before being reallocated the identity RSX 5002.
Other than the factory production record showing that it went, via the distributor Rudds of Worthing, to a customer in Spain, the first owner is not known.
From 1961 until 2026 there was no trace of this car. It could have been presumed to be extinct but missing cars have a habit of turning up. In 2026 it surfaced via a broker acting on behalf of the same family who had owned it since new! That is unusual.
It has been repainted in a silver/grey. The original interior appears tired and the photographs show it in a generally poor condition.
No sale agreement has yet been concluded as of October 2026.
We would love to hear from anyone has more information on the car or would like to add to the history please feel free to contact us here at Ruddspeed.
